How to Know the Perfect Time to Start

time drain“For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks…The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn’t conspire against you, but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually,” just do it and correct course along the way.” – Timothy Ferriss

We can’t kid ourselves. Most of us realize that if we don’t do something when it’s right in front of us, we probably won’t get to it. Even if it’s important. Even if it’s wonderful. Even if it could make a big difference to us.

We’ve gotten really good at pushing off things in our lives to “someday”, “tomorrow” or “later”. Chores, deadlines, and exercise are common casualties. And because it’s become easier over time, the habit of pushing away becomes habit.

Here’s some food for thought:  What if you didn’t do all that pushing away? What if you stayed organized because your chores were done when they should get done? And your deadlines were met, without all the rush and stress? And you stuck to an exercise plan until it became a habit itself? What if you had thought about, wished and dreamed for something even bigger, like being your own boss, being in charge of your schedule and being financially secure and then…. you had the opportunity to make it happen?
